Authenticator apps
An authenticator app shows a six-digit code that changes every 30 seconds. Signing in
needs your password and the code showing right now, so a stolen password on its
own is not enough.
Getting one
Using it
- Sign in with your email and password.
- Point the app's camera at the square code we show you.
- Type the six digits it starts showing. That confirms it works.
- From then on, sign-in asks for your password and a fresh code.
Pick something that backs the key up. There is no self-service recovery yet — an
app that lives only on one phone is lost with that phone, and getting back in means
someone editing the database by hand. A password manager avoids that entirely.
